AICON To Open ‘IN THIS ERA’ Solo Exhibition in Japan
Showing from January 14 – 22.
Emerging Japanese artist AICON will present her first solo exhibition IN THIS ERA later this week. Hosted by reload, an innovative venue in the trendy neighborhood of Shimokitazawa, Japan, the exhibition will showcase a selection of artworks that focus on expressing the idea of “human as material” through the artist’s signature “inorganic lines”.
From paintings and illustrations to design, AICON’s artworks are identified by her unique minimalistic aesthetic, which the artist dubbed as “THE HUMAN UNIVERSE IN NEO CLASSIC.” Her works are often presented in a monochromatic color palette, featuring shapes, faces, and bodies that are prominently highlighted with squiggly lines. The exhibits at IN THIS ERA will follow through with AICON’s signature style with the key message being “everything is a phenomenon, and it simply exists as a substance.”
Opening on January 14, IN THIS ERA will be on view until January 2 at reload’s event space.
