Established earlier this year, JUNTAE KIM is an emerging label out of London and Seoul. Founder and designer Juntae Kim graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2019, presenting his MA Fall/Winter 2022 “Romantic From Freedom” collection at London Fashion Week.

Returning to unveil a Spring/Summer 2023 collection, the eponymous label presented a range dubbed, “Garden Punk: Freedom Is Reality.” Exploring gender-fluid wares through an ethos of “unraveling binary constructions,” JUNTAE KIM reinterprets the incompatibility between the established silhouettes of women’s costumes and both form and details of contemporary men’s clothing.

The SS23 collection is inspired by Vivienne Westwood’s early offerings bringing out a perfect juxtaposition of traditional crafts and modern techniques. The selection captures styling definitive of the ’70s and ’80s punk scenes through fading, cuts, and cinching that continue to disrupt standards of gender, shape, and class for an evocative exploration of fluid fashion.
