Maharishi Aims for the Stars With Its Sky-High FW22 "Experimental Flight" Collection
Inspired by the fighter pilots who flew the Convair B-58 Huster jet during the 1950s.
Best known for its combination of deep-rooted themes across art and history with contemporary streetwear, not one maharishi collection appears to have similar inspirations to another. The London-based brand recently teamed up with legendary New York artist EARSNOT who is the founder of the graffiti crew IRAK. The collection blended EARSNOT’s iconic rainbow prints with baggy and utility-styled garments while adding a slice of New York history to the streets of the U.K.’s capital.
Now, maharishi has unveiled its latest collection for Fall/Winter 2022 entitled “Experimental Flight.” Inspired by the fighter pilots who flew the Convair B-58 Huster — an American-designed fighter jet — during the 1950s, their standard issue flight uniforms sparked the idea behind the capsule. Collection highlights include the relaxed fit overshirt which has been crafted from lightweight cotton poplin and features concealed zip openings and two chest pockets. maharishi has also included a selection of newly-introduced T-shirts in black, white, “Olive,” and “Dark Teal,” all of which feature an angled zip pocket on the chest.
More attention to detail has been paid to outerwear this season, too: see the “Modified Test Flight Jacket,” which is a parka silhouette with two large angled pockets, finished with hi-vis lining and internal carry straps. Loose-fitting track pants featuring brass-zipped utility pockets with extended pulls round off the collection.
