Danger Mouse and Black Thought Enlist A$AP Rocky and Run The Jewels for "Strangers"
Set to appear on their collaborative album ‘Cheat Codes.’
Danger Mouse and Black Thought have joined forces with A$AP Rocky and Run The Jewels for “Strangers,” the newest single from their upcoming album Cheat Codes.
Clocking in at just a little over four minutes, the cut is the fourth single to be released from Cheat Codes following “No Gold Teeth,” “Aquamarine” featuring Michael Kiwanuka and “Because” featuring Joey Bada$$, Russ and Dylan Cartlidge. Cheat Codes is also set to include guest appearances from the likes of the late MF DOOM, Raekwon and Conway the Machine, and is billed as “an album untethered to any genre, era or trend — uncategorizeable and timeless. It is the sound of the pair observing their own culture and asking questions they still may not have the answers to.”
The collaborative album was initially announced in 2020 with the title Dangerous Thoughts, described by Black Thought as “a return for [Danger Mouse] to hip-hop and to sampling in this way.” He continued, “It’s a feel-good record. It’s a record for people who got into hip-hop and sort of evolved at the same period of time that we did. We’re the elder statesmen at this point, so I feel like this record is reflective of that too.”
