Idris Elba is open to diving into the backstory of his DC character Bloodsport, which he last played in 2021’s The Suicide Squad.

Speaking to Variety during the New York premiere of his latest film Beast, the actor stressed on the importance of explaining the reason as to why Bloodsport was sent to prison. “I would definitely like to tell the Superman story. There’s no doubt,” he said, referring to his character sending Superman to the ICU after he shot him with a kryptonite bullet. “Bloodsport versus Superman. It needs to happen.”

In The Suicide Squad, Bloodsport was last seen blackmailing Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, into letting him and his surviving teammates go without consequence. Whether or not he will return in the DC cinematic universe is still unconfirmed as of writing.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Vince Gilligan opened up about whether or not he will ever return to Breaking Bad now that Better Call Saul is coming to an end.
