Eytys' SS22 Quest Sandal Takes Hiking Really Seriously

Eytys is no stranger to experimentation, often delving into the intriguing world of shapes and avant-garde forms to create footwear that spans genres — such as its new Quest sandal.

Seen in the Stockholm-based brand’s Spring/Summer 2022 lookbook, the Quest now appears in either “Black,” “Seashell” or “Sierra” colorways, each of which lends themselves to the increasingly overlapping world of urban footwear and hiking culture. Regardless of the colorway, you’ll find an exterior made from a variety of crisscrossing straps and panels that hook into the sole unit (more on that later), each made from leather and nubuck suede. Eytys’ branding decorates rubber grips that have been added to the upper section to help you better adjust the pair, while “quest” daintily decorates the heel, a component that is padded and chunky in its own right.

Elevating those overgrown credentials is the sole unit, which despite being a single piece manages to be gargantuan in size. Ripples run along the side wall while a small lip extends from the front and rear of the sandal, adding more bulk for that retro ’90s hiking footwear attitude.

But it’s all welcome, especially in the tan and purple-toned “Sierra” colorway, as this only adds to Eytys’ ever-growing identity as a brand that knows how to throw it back to the past while acknowledging — and somewhat creating — contemporary footwear trends.
