Kenya Barris To Write and Direct Warner Bros. Remake of 'The Wizard of Oz'

The film will be a “modern reimagining” of the famed story.

Kenya Barris is set to write and direct the upcoming remake of The Wizard of Oz for Warner Bros.

Details regarding the film remain under wraps, however Deadline reports that it will be “a modern reimagining of the iconic musical.” The black-ish creator’s Khalabo Ink Society is producing while Sheila Walcott is overseeing for Warner Bros. The cast is also yet to be announced.

Barris is recently in post-production of his feature directorial debut You People, which was co-written by Jonah Hill and stars the actor, Eddie Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lauren London, Nia Long and David Duchovny to name a few. The director is also getting ready to premiere the Kid Cudi co-created Netflix series Entergalactic in September.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Bob Odenkirk shared a farewell message to Better Call Saul as the show came to an end after six seasons.
