Streaming now on Disney+.
On July 9, 1982, the classic sci-fi adventure film Tron made its debut, marking the beginning of a franchise that would make way for sequels, a spin-off animated series, video games, novels, and theme park attractions. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original live-action film, Disney offers a first look at the upcoming Tron LightCycle ride at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida — one of the fastest coasters in any Disney park — and revisits Tron and Tron: Legacy (2010) on Disney+.
The original Tron film follows genius video game maker Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) as he’s beamed into a life-like digital world while attempting to hack into the mainframe of his ex-employer. As he’s thrust the game he was designing, Flynn is forced to participate in gladiatorial games as he fights to destroy the dictatorial master control program.
Above is a special trailer from Disney that relives scenes from the cult classic. Tron and Tron: Legacy are now available on Disney+.
