Favored Denim Brand of Athletes, MONFRÈRE, Drops an Exclusive New Collab
Teaming up with celebrity style cohort MVLA.
MONFRÈRE has been making waves in the realm of elite athletes as a go-to source for premier denim and custom-made ready-to-wear items. And finding a niche within that space – in addition to its global customer base – MONFRÈRE is dropping an exclusive new collab of two-tone denim, in partnership with the celebrity styling team of MVLA.
As a family-funded fashion brand, MONFRÈRE has chosen to bypass the fast-fashion and status-quo route to developing its menswear products, instead choosing to keep production tight and style-oriented. For Spring/Summer 2022, the label has teamed up with Chris Santos and Vick Michel’s MVLA brand, to introduce two new denim styles – a two-toned denim wide-legged jean, and a non-denim wide-legged cargo pant.
The two-toned denim features a high-waisted all-over light wash, with a dark wash waistband, affixed-front pockets and back pockets. The outer seams are held together by a frayed dark denim selvage edge and culminate in a flared bottom. Contrastingly, the non-denim cargo is available in either a pink or white mesh fabric with deep pockets and a flared bottom.
Commenting on the success of the label and the MVLA partnership, MONFRÈRE Co-Founder, Steven Dann, says: “With MONFRÈRE you can always expect the unexpected. Our super-skinny ‘Greyson Fit’ – that’s garnered a cult-like following since our launch – is the DNA of the brand, however, it’s important for us to set trends in the market. The opportunity to team up with such a creative duo was a natural progression for us.”
Sharing that sentiment, MVLA Co-Founders, Santos and Michel stated: “Collaborating to us is understanding the value each party brings to the table, and with MONFRÈRE it was easy because they’re crushing it in the denim space. We wanted to pay homage to the iconic flare design by putting our modern twist on it [and] decided to turn the classic denim wash inside-out and add the contrast pockets to give the piece texture. They allowed us to be ‘us’ and we allowed them to be ‘them.’”
“It’s been a great experience and we look forward to future collections,” Santos and Michel added.
Major fans of the brand include the Cleveland Browns’ Donovan Peoples-Jones and NBA Finals star Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.
