The Martine Rose x Nike Shox Mule MR4 Gets a Release Date

For 2022, Nike has brought its Shox technology back into the mix. Collaborations with both Supreme and Martine Rose utilizing Shox silhouettes were announced in June. While Supreme has already launched its take on the Shox Ride 2, the Martine Rose-designed Shox Mule MR4 is right around the corner. Debuting during Rose’s Spring/Summer 2023 show in London, this polarizing take on the R4 hit headlines swiftly. Now, after official images of the “Black” colorway popped up, Nike is offering additional information regarding this release.

While many may simply let the eccentric design tell the story of the shoe, Rose offers a more detailed connection. The origins of this project stem from international football and the contrast in pre-game presentation between tailored suit-wearing men and their standard issue tracksuit-wearing women counterparts. Focusing on reimagining the boundaries of pre-match attire, Rose shared that “we recognized a great opportunity to really focus on women and football and then make a trainer that is almost like a smart shoe.” The resulting mule-shaped silhouette is offered in “Black” and “White” and sticks to Rose’s style with its play on proportions.
