South London’s Loyle Carner is finally back with new music. Following up on his 2019-released album Not Waving, But Drowning - which landed top three in the U.K. album charts at the time – and his 2020-released record “Yesterday,” the rap artist is now returning with a new percussion-heavy single entitled “Hate.”

Produced by kwes., Earl Saga, and Nick Mills, Carner’s turbo-charged performance comes with a streak of fury and potency, touching on his own confusing and anxiety-ridden feelings that make up the current experiences of being Black and British. As a outright essay about lives lived in the cross-hairs of society, “Hate” is centered around fear, exhaustion, frustration all while boasting lyrical awareness that validates the hiatus that the South Londoner has been on.

In the accompanying visuals, directed by Loyle Carner himself, we’re taken on a road trip full of rage and anger, splitting the narratives between four different versions of the artist that each explains different things they “Hate.” Speaking about his new single Loyle Carner said:

“It reminds me of times the red mist takes over, and how alone you feel when the rest mist passes. Arrogant and self-righteous but at the same time vulnerable and somber.  I listen to this one in my car, at night. Especially after an argument when you need to get space and take a breath.”

You can watch the “Hate” visuals above and in other music news, Westside Gunn has announced the release date for his new project Peace “Fly” God.
