LEGO Joins Atari in Its 50th Anniversary Celebrations With a New Gaming Console Brick Set
It even comes with cartridges you can slot into the 2600.
In celebration of Atari‘s 50th anniversary, LEGO has now joined the nostalgic gaming company to re-create the Atari 2600 console in the form of a brick set. Coming in at 2,532 pieces, the new set brings on the nostalgia with the Atari 2600’s black and wooden body, complete with all its dials and pushers and ports.
To accompany the machine that first launched as the Atari Video Computer System back in 1977, LEGO has also created three model cartridges you can actually slot into the console, featuring iconic games including Asteroids, Adventure and Centipede. According to the toy company, the joystick also moves and feels exactly the same way as the original one from the ’70s. To make the set more engaging, there are even little sets you can build that represent each game, and the cartridges themselves can be stored on a shelf for safekeeping.
Available from August 1, the new LEGO Atari 2600 set will cost $240 USD. You can learn more over on the company’s website.
