FILA Teams Up with Iconic NYC Pizzerias for Sneaker Collection
In honor of the five boroughs’ most sought-after pizza shops.
FILA pays tribute to New York City Pizzerias and the city’s five boroughs by releasing a collection of sneakers exclusively sold at Foot Locker. Rubirosa Ristorante, Roberta’s, sLICe Astoria, Louie & Ernie’s, and Lee’s Tavern worked alongside the sportswear brand to create designs that speak to the personality of each restaurant. The styling of the shoes include custom colorways, eye-catching prints, dual logos and individualized branding. Each has a city map on the back of the tongue and comes in a shoe box that heavily resembles a pizza box.
The FILA Renno x Rubirosa Ristorante celebrates the Manhattan pizza shop on Mulberry Street. To resemble the family-run restaurant, the shoe is styled in white, orange, and gold with red lines on both sides that copies the restaurant’s outside awning. The heel is decorated with “one love” atop red, yellow and green hearts.
The FILA Original Fitness Ripple x Roberta’s (Brooklyn) comes in a white design and features an all over print of the restaurant’s logo in red as well as items from the menu listed on the shoe’s sock-liner.
The FILA Renno x sLICe was designed in macadamia, orange and black to match the signature color ways of the Queens-based pizzeria. The shoe offers a more contemporary look with square prints on the top and sides. sLICe and FILA branding is included on the tongue, heel and sock-liners, which are decorated with a repeating graphic print that features slices of pizza.
The FILA Renno x Louie & Ernie’s embodies Italian tradition with a colorway of white, red, and green to represent the country’s flag. The Bronx pizzeria has been running since 1959 and is famous for its thin-crust slices. As a nod to the establishment’s policies, “Sorry, Cash Only” and “No Delivery” are printed on the toe cap, while “Louie & Ernie’s Pizza” appears on the back heel over a green suede.
The FILA F-13 x Lee’s Tavern is a classic black, gray and white design in tumbled leather and suede with logo embroidery on the tongue, and “Lee’s Tavern Est 1940” on the upper. “What the world needs is pizza and quiet,” a phrase commonly said by the owner, appears on the back heel. The restaurant’s Hancock Street corner signage is displayed on the bottom and can be seen through the shoe’s ice sole.
FILA’s Famous NY Style Pizza Collection will be available exclusively on FootLocker.com and select locations on July 26.
