Anonymous Club's "COLLECTION 01 - WE BLEED GREEN" Turns Club Kids Into Fashionable Freaks
Shayne Oliver’s creative studio debuted the experimental line during a new party series called ‘Club Couture.’
Founded by Hood by Air’s Shayne Oliver and a core unit of inspired partners, Anonymous Club is a multi-hyphenate creative studio operating among New York City’s fine art, music and fashion circles. On Saturday, during a Boiler Room takeover of Bushwick’s outdoor event complex Avant Gardner, the experimental imprint debuted its newest collection and its first installment of Club Couture, Oliver’s private-made-public party series.
The line, dubbed “COLLECTION 01 – WE BLEED GREEN,” puts a freak-ish spin on the classic club kid wardrobe, altering typical top silhouettes with shoulders blown up to grotesque proportions and incorporating campy notes of athleticism via decaying white stripes on track jackets. Swarovski crystals spell out “CLUB COUTURE” on T-shirts in audacious tones, reflecting a modified iteration of the “daytime bimbo uniform,” according to the techno-futurist studio; and leather dunce hats are cleansed of their disciplinary connotations, instead extending a utopian invitation for play to their wearers.
With transformation in the vanguard, the range includes a tracksuit jacket with sleeves that double as backpack straps and a lanyard zip wallet that enters incognito mode as a suit lapel. In footwear, the Shaft Boot makes a knee-high statement with a soft nubuck leather upper and a kitten-heel trainer.
Following the first-looks pre-show, which saw artists-turned-models including Meth Math, Ayegy, Sausha and Babyxsosa debut each garment in the venue’s Kings Hall, Club Couture imminently commanded the space with sets from Babyxsosa, Nation, Meth Math, DJ Assault, Ayegy, Izzy Spears, Earthearter and LEECH, Oliver’s alter-ego. Notably, in tandem with Club Couture‘s premiere, LEECH will release his debut EP, titled HEADLESS, this Friday, July 22.
