N.HOOLYWOOD Gets Militant for SS23
Fusing tactical and street-ready garments.
For its Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Japanese label N.HOOLYWOOD pivots in a more militant direction.
Daisuke Obana’s latest offering fuses tactical and street-ready garments alongside being drenched in camouflage. Comprised of relaxed silhouettes, the collection features puffer jackets, technical pants, sweatshirts and t-shirts. What enhances the minimal color palette of black, slate gray and technical camouflage is the usage of cotton, nylon and fleece fabrics.
“The past few years, I have been sending out a message about pursuing clothes for life and health,” Obana told Vogue Runway. “And I want to face people who sympathize with my beliefs rather than a broader audience. I think it would be my dream to save the body and soul through clothing.”
Further illustrating Obana’s sentiment is the collection’s lookbook which was shot in a decommissioned military helicopter with an ominous green glow. Although streamlined in its creation, the brand’s SS23 collection offers an informed look at versatile yet wearable pieces.
