STAPLE x Fossil Host Panel "Timing is Everything" at HBX New York in Celebration of Watch Collab

In celebration of the brand new STAPLE x Fossil timepiece collaboration, HBX New York welcomed creatives of all different backgrounds and generations to take a journey through time. The panel of diverse, yet experienced and driven industry professionals reflected on the importance of time and personal growth.

Jeff Staple, designer and streetwear mogul, took to the mic to moderate the enlightening discussion, leading the conversation between artist Westside Gunn, creative consultant Nick Wooster, and digital creative and animation artist pplpleasr. Each of the panelists represented different backgrounds and artistic paths, but it’s their shared stories of trials and tribulations through time and a common love for their respective crafts that led them to where they are today.

When asked to share how each maintained their resilience, even through the obstacles of life, the speakers all shared that delving deep into their passions is what led them to success. “I was a hustler and businessman ever since I was a kid,” shared Westside Gunn, who has been recognized for his multifaceted career as a rapper, co-founder of a music label, and even designer. pplpleasr echoed this sentiment by reflecting on her upbringing, “I have been interested in art ever since I was a child.” Wooster’s career was not linear, but he has found his way to a fulfilling career and chapter of his life, now getting to be surrounded by innovative thinking and like-minded creators.

It only makes sense that these industry shakers were chosen to share this moment with STAPLE x Fossil, as pplpleasr, Nick Wooster, and Westside Gunn all emphasized how having faith in time brought them clarity. Staple knows a thing or two about paying his dues in the industry and trusting in time’s plan as well. “This year is actually the 25th anniversary of the founding of STAPLE,” he expressed, “My role is to spread knowledge because, for me, if I keep all the information to myself, the culture doesn’t grow — it stifles.”

The watch comes in three colorways, inspired by urban landscapes as well as nature. As the unique collaboration juxtaposes archival Fossil elements with novel STAPLE trademarks, the collaboration is a true ode to the passage of time and the art of collecting.
