Wrist Check: The 2022 Met Gala Red Carpet
From Jack Harlow’s favorite Rolex to J Balvin’s dress watch restraint.
A host of stars turned out for the 2022 Met Gala “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” with their wrist game every bit as considered as their fashion choices.
Of course the Met Gala is known as an opportunity to flex in front of the cameras and music executive Corey Gamble did just that, wearing the Tiffany Blue Nautilus 5711/1A-018. The final edition of the fabled 5711 was available exclusively to Tiffany’s best customers.
Swizz Beatz went one better in terms of exclusivity, wearing a watch he had a hand in creating, the $520,000 USD De Bethune Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon ‘Season 1’, which was produced last year in a run of just 10 pieces.
Jack Harlow proved himself a one-watch guy wearing his favorite steel and white gold Rolex Sky Dweller, while J Balvin exercised considerable restraint in his choice of a Ralph Lauren dress watch when his collection runs to the most exotic reaches of Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille.
Ryan Reynolds paired his burgundy velvet dinner jacket with an 18K Moonshine gold Omega Speedmaster with green dial, while Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page wore a rectangular Longines DolceVita dress watch.
American Olympic skateboarder Nyjah Huston opted for shades of blue, pairing his powder blue suit with a Roger Dubuis Excalibur Cobalt Blue watch and Youtuber and former NASA engineer, Mark Rober wore a Jacob & Co. Astronomia.
Chanel was the choice for both Giveon, who wore a Chanel Monsieur Diamond Edition, and David Harbour, who selected a J12 GMT Matte ceramic watch. While Adrien Brody and Oscar Isaac both wore Cartier.
