The track, which Ye produced alongside 88-Keys, Ojivolta and Evan Mast, first surfaced on preliminary tracklists for Ye’s DONDA and was previously played publicly during the album’s Las Vegas listening party. Now, “Daylight” is slated to appear on Vory’s forthcoming debut album, Lost Souls, which is scheduled to debut on Friday, June 3.
Vory featured on two DONDA tracks — “No Child Left Behind” and “God Breathed” — in August of last year, and he later received a solo track, dubbed “Lord Lift Me Up,” on DONDA 2. In an interview with XXL late last year, Vory discussed the nature of his collaborations with Ye and the creation of “No Child Left Behind.”
“We understand each other,” Vory said. “Our vibe is crazy, though. Even his childhood friends are like, ‘You would think y’all have known each other for years.’ With ‘No Child Left Behind,’ [Kanye] had an idea that was basically, ‘Never abandon your child.’ That’s what he was trying to run with, and so that was a whole different song. And then I was like, ‘Nah bro, say something [that] means the same thing, but it’s a different saying. More of a quote.’”
