Tyrrell Winston Explores the Subtle Art of Focus With His Reebok Footwear Collaboration
Featuring minimal takes of the Club C and Question Mid.
This season has been extremely active for the Reebok team and its collaborations category as the brand has recently pushed out team-ups with the likes of Bodega, Packer and more. And to kick off the month of May, it’s expanding upon this lineup with a brand new collection with artist Tyrell Winston. Known for his captivating deflated basketball installations, broken net pieces and cigarette butt showings, the NY-based creative has a passion for the Boston brand’s heritage and basketball roots, so he’s fittingly applied his creative touch to the Reebok Club C and Question Mid.
“Club C has been a part of my life for a very long time and are my go-to studio shoe – I’ve documented the wear of various pairs of Club C in the studio over the last few years, so this shoe is truly an extension of my work,” said Winston. “The Question Mid, well it’s a pinch-myself moment. Iverson’s cultural impact on and off the court is remarkable, almost godly, defying stamina and style. Both silhouettes are about references to my work, but they themselves are not art — on a certain level I look at them as mediums.”
Both designs are minimal in appearance as each hones in on a neutral-toned palette. Details that call out the artist include that of his remixed Yankees logos as well as his own moniker that is housed inside the translucent soles of each pair.
The collection is set to drop on May 6 exclusively via Tyrell Winston’s site before its wider global release on May 13 through Reebok and select retailers.
In other news, Mountain Research and Reebok have reworked the Club C Mid II with detachable lace guards.
