Pusha T Speaks on Kanye West and Kid Cudi Feud
Discussing how it affected his latest album, ‘It’s Almost Dry.’
Soon after the release of his latest mixtape, It’s Almost Dry, Pusha T sat down with SiriusXM’s Shade45 and discussed in length the feud between Kanye West and Kid Cudi and how it affected his album.
King Push divulged about what it is like working with both Ye and Cudi on what appears to be their final collaborative track, “Rock N Roll.” The song garnered a lot of attention since Cudi revealed that this would be the last time he worked with Ye. Push was asked if he thought that their relationship could be repaired and he responded,
“I think right now, I’m going to just let them have their space. You couldn’t even imagine the amount of talking I had to do just in regard to getting the record ['Rock N Roll'] for the album cleared.”
Cudi is definitely very strong-willed. He’s standing on what he’s standing on…He’s always been the one to stand next to me. Regardless of what’s going on, whatever…It’s always been like that.”
He also explained how the three rappers came about to work on the track together during the pandemic sharing, “I just remember that day so vividly. It was so good…Ye started chopping the Beyoncé sample. Cudi just pops in…I hadn’t seen Cudi in a long time, Ye hadn’t seen Cudi in a long time…Cudi came in and killed it. He did five versions of the hook.” Push chalks up the feud to a fight between brothers and hopes that the two can one day reconcile. In another interview with Vulture, he discusses the feud in greater detail and readdresses the moment,
“It f***ing sucks. You know Cudi is my f***ing brother to the end. Just navigating these relationships, this brotherhood, the arguing…it gets public. It’s one thing for us to argue. We all argue — that’s not a problem.
It gets out there, whether it’s Ye bickering first, or Cudi coming back with what he says. It’s super f***ed up. The day we made this record, everybody was so f***ing happy.”
