Take a Look Inside Sydney-Based Boutique Chinatown Country Club
An experiential space equipped with luxury designers, a cafe and in-house library.

Since opening its doors just two months ago, Chinatown Country Club has become one of Sydney’s go-to boutiques. Situated in the heart of the capital, Chinatown Country Club provides a space that is not only shoppable, but experiential too thanks to its super-clean aesthetic, as well as an in-house cafe and library.
“As a fashion retailer, our focus is on new gen brands and established designers we really believe in,” explains Chinatown Country Club’s Oliver Li. “In terms of service, in comparison to other retailers — especially that stock contemporary and luxury designers — we are attitude free.”
The name Chinatown Country Club derives from the ideation of an Asian heritage juxtaposed against a western upbringing, something that for Li and his team is very important. “I think for a lot of Asians growing up in western society, they attach a lot of shame to their cultural background when they’re young,” continues Li. “I think as a team we are very proud of who we are and wanted to put this first and foremost, especially within a creative atmosphere as it isn’t traditionally favored.”
When it comes to the plethora of brands they stock, there’s no holding back. From names like Bianca Saunders, Kiko Kostadinov and Stefan Cooke, to Séfr, Martine Rose and Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, the Sydney-based outfit is holding no punches across both menswear, womenswear and accessories.
While fashion and a shopping experiences undoubtedly remains the core of the business, Li insists Chinatown Country Club is more of a space to relax than a traditional fashion boutique. “We function more as a place to hang and chill out at, a social club of some sort than a fashion boutique,” he says. “I think a lot of our customers relate to our space more than just as a retailer, when they think of us they often think about the people that make up our business.”
“At its foundation, we offer different products and services compared to other retailers,” he continues. “This in conjunction with our cafe and library space allows the physical space to become more experiential, comfortable and inviting.”
You can visit the Chinatown Country Club website here or its physical store at 222 Clarence St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia, which is open Monday through to Sunday.
