Pro-Ject Introduces Its Premium X8 Turntable
Designed for audiophiles with $2,500 USD to spare.
Premium audio company Pro-Ject has now introduced its newest X8 turntable. Designed for dedicated audiophiles, the new offering is dubbed by the company as a “true high-end solution” that adapts key technical features from both the Xtension 9 and 10.
Supported by its MDF chassis is a precision balanced platter machined out of a single piece of aluminum and then damped with a Thermo Plastic Elastomer insert, the component rotating on an inverted bearing with a ceramic ball and PTFE thrust pad. To decrease its load for longevity, there’s also a neodymium magnet down below that repels the platter from the plinth and bearing, keeping things nice and light. Finishing the set is a 9cc EVO carbon tonearm and the option of a factory-installed Sumiko Moonstone cartridge.
For those interested, Pro-Ject’s X8 turntable will be available this month at select retailers, going for $2,400 USD without a cartridge and $2,500 USD with the Sumiko cartridge. You can learn more over on the audio company’s website.
