Progressive retail concept LN-CC and Netherlands-based sustainable solutions agency The Bear Scouts join forces with designer DRx Romanelli and artist Stefan Meier this Earth Day for a unique apparel collection shining a light on the issues faced by the clothing industry today. With the industry currently using 1.5 trillion liters of water each year with only 15% of clothing recycled or donated, LN-CC’s upcoming Late Night-Conscious Campaign capsule looks to serve as an example and drive change in production practices, using 100% deadstock fabrics with zero waste and zero water usage for its latest collection.

“The craft that goes into customizing vintage and whether it’s hand embroidery or stenciling, it takes time and energy and when it’s done well, it has a tremendous ripple effect. So, as a consumer who appreciates history and classic stories and older trends, I hope this will resonate,” writes Darren Romanelli (DRx).

The Late Night-Conscious campaign was launched in 2014 to drive change and challenge norms with previous capsules featuring Martine Rose and Hymne x Online Ceramics. This upcoming capsule centers on vintage workwear silhouettes that serve as a canvas for artist Stefan Meier’s illustrations. The archival pieces include discontinued Levi’s 590s, vintage French workwear jackets, jersey classics, tote bags, and bucket hats. Meier’s vibrant artworks seen across the wares are crafted by supersizing graphics from vintage nature books bolstered by hand-drawn annotations.

“When People buy these clothes, wear these clothes, see the clothes, however they interact with the clothes, I want them to remember what being a kid is like, that’s what my art is about,” says Stefan Meier. “Even though the graphics are pretty chaotic; feeling that simplicity of being a child and being able to step away from the chaos of modern life.”

The full collection will be available from Earth Day, April 22, at LN-CC and select retailers including GR8 in Tokyo and Union Los Angeles. Prices range from £90 to £420 GBP (approximately $117 to $547 USD).
