Balmain's Runway-Ready Spring 2022 B-It Slide Is the Next Wave in Footwear

HYPEBEAST lauded the Balmain B-It as one of the best pieces of footwear to grace the runway at Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022, and now the runway-ready slide has officially been released worldwide.
Olivier Rousteing‘s Spring 2022 show was one of his most honest and insightful to date, presenting looks adorned with bandages, gauze-like fabrics and drapes to comment on the freak accident he was subjected to, resulting in being burned. While less overt, the B-It’s bulbous shape can be likened to surgical rehabilitation shoes, known for their support, padding, and comfort that is designed to help patients.
For the B-It, Rousteing and his footwear team developed a futuristic slip-on shoe that also draws cues from the past. Specifically, the design modernizes a Japanese Geta or Oboko sandal, while the sleek “yar” lines of vintage wooden racing boats are evident in the B-It’s speedboat-like shape and subsequent campaign imagery.
