Saint Laurent Introduces Its Bandana-Wearing SMITH Sneaker
Costing $1,995 USD with the bandana, or $1,195 USD without.
Anthony Vaccarello‘s Saint Laurent is best known for producing lush leather biker jackets, exquisitely tailored suits, and a to-die-for array of boots, but now for Spring/Summer 2022 it continues its ever-growing venture into sneakers with the all-new SMITH silhouette.
Coming in three renditions — two adorned with a bandana and another without — the pairs are served up in “White,” “Noir,” and “Blanc et Bleu” respectively. The bandanna-wearing pairs are of particular interest, as the basketball-esque hightop is shrouded almost entirely in the silky addition. Wrapping around the collar and tying up on the medial side, the first colorway opts for a black-and-white striped pattern before adding cotton fringes and an abundance of webbing to the bandana, looking somewhat nautical. The black colorway goes all out on the “Noir” touches, but regardless of the color, underneath you’ll find a full calfskin upper graced with sporty Saint Laurent branding on the heel, perforated leather panels on the mid and toe, and a retro-inspired sole unit also wearing the Saint Laurent moniker.
As for the sans-bandana offering, Saint Laurent still maintains an air of intrigue. Here, laces criss-cross à la Rick Owens over the SMITH’s leather uppers, wrapping around the heel before meeting at the mid-panel and tongue. This pair costs $1,195 USD, while the bandana-covered pairs come in at $1,995 USD.
