Omega has revealed a commercial version of its 2019 Ultra Deep capable of withstanding dives down to 6,000m (20,000 ft).

The Swiss brand first revealed three prototypes of the Ultra Deep three years ago after they had already successful completed a 10,935m (35,876 ft) dive to bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest point in the ocean.

The watches completed the 12-hour dive with two examples strapped to the hull the submersible Limiting Factor, piloted by adventurer Victor Vescovo and a third attached to a ‘lander’ support vessel.

The new 45.5mm Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep is water resistant to 6,000m and features the same forged grade 5 titanium case material, “Manta lug” design and a “conical load bearing” sapphire crystal. Omega tested the new design to a depth of 6,269m (20,567 ft) in the Mariana Trench in 2021.

The watch is presented on a striped NATO strap in cyan and black polyamide made from 100% recycled fishing nets and features include a ceramised titanium dial with cyan numerals and a brushed ceramic bezel with Liquidmetal diving scale.

Six other models, with white or gradient dials, have also been produced in a new proprietary stainless steel alloy called O-MEGASTEEL formulated for “superior strength, whiter colour and incomparable shine.’ Each of these pieces is available with either rubber strap or O-MEGASTEEL bracelet.

Each watch in the collection is powered by Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer 3.5Hz automatic Calibre 8912 which manages a power reserve of 60 hours.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep collection in available now, via Omega with the titanium model priced $12,300 USD and the steel models starting at $11,200 USD.

Elsewhere in watches, SOPHNET. and Luminox collaborate on special edition 3001.
