Maison Margiela's $560 USD Laser-Cut Shoe Is Practically Two-Dimensional

Maison Margiela footwear isn’t for everybody — you either get the tabi trend, or you don’t. Looking almost two-dimensional because it’s so flat, the slip-on style is actually crafted from laser-cut Bovine leather finished in a tan colorway that, once the foot is inside, will open up to reveal a honeycomb-like pattern cut into the rounded toe.
Laser-cut slats run down the mid-panel section, if you can call it that, once again opening up to reveal a design when being worn. Of course, signature motifs can be frequently found, from the Margiela branding that’s stamped onto the leather vamp to the single stitch on the heel of the slip-on.
Completing this pair is a looped running stitch that brings the uppers and leather sole together, met with a light tan insole in the middle that’s stamped with silver foil Maison Margiela branding.
