Mark Zuckerberg Says NFTs Are Coming to Instagram
Speaking at SXSW in Austin.

NFTs will soon be arriving on Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg revealed during a talk at SXSW on Tuesday.
“We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term,” Zuckerberg said, according to Engadget.
Last year, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said that the company is “actively exploring” venturing into NFTs.
Zuckerberg was reluctant to reveal additional details about the NFT project. “I’m not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today. But over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment,” he added.
The tech mogul did however share that NFTs may play role in the future metaverse. “I would hope that you know, the clothing that your avatar is wearing in the metaverse, you know, can be basically minted as an NFT and you can take it between your different places,” Zuckerberg said later in the discussion, per Engadget. “There’s like a bunch of technical things that need to get worked out before that’ll really be seamless to happen.”
