Teddy Santis’ Debut New Balance MADE in USA Collection Set to Drop This Spring
Almost 10 months into his role as creative director.
Since Teddy Santis was appointed as the creative director of New Balance‘s MADE in USA line, the sneaker world has patiently been awaiting for his first collection. Almost 10 months into the role, the Aimé Leon Dore founder has teased only one product to-date via his Instagram account in the new 990v6 silhouette.
Now though, according to reports, New Balance is preparing to roll out its first collection under the guise of Santis, and it’s expected to drop “later this spring”.
Speaking to BoF ahead of the release, Santis discussed his stance on New Balance MADE in USA dropping hard-to-cop products. “We’re not trying to have this very scarce product and we’re also not trying to flood the market,” he explained. “We’re making products for the guy who actually wants to wear them.”
Over the past few years, Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance has linked up for a number of collaborative releases, including the now-popular 550 silhouette. Santis, though, made it clear where his priorities lied when it came to his role as creative director of New Balance MADE in USA versus his own New York-based label: “I would love to do what I’m doing right now for the rest of my life,” he said. “I wouldn’t want to do anything else besides ALD forever.”
Keep an eye on HYPEBEAST for information regarding Santis’ first New Balance MADE in USA collection, which is expected to be revealed in the near future.
In the meantime, check out New Balance’s latest collaboration with JJJJound that’s set to drop later this week.
