New Balance Celebrates Lunar New Year With a Festive 57/40 Colorway
Sporting a palette that aligns with the Year of the Tiger.
When February rolls around, sportswear brands will typically commemorate Lunar New Year by dropping festive footwear colorways that nod to the annual holiday. This year, the New Balance team has rolled out a duo of makeups that channel their best Year of the Tiger spirit, one being this New Balance 57/40 iteration that has just surfaced.
While the Boston-based imprint’s recently dropped XC-72 “Chinese New Year” colorway was decorated with actual tiger stripes, this iteration nods to 2022’s zodiac sign with its color palette. Buttery suede overlays are lined with a full black skin and come mated with bold orange underlays to portray the vibe of a tiger. Earthy accents also make an appearance here via tan mesh paneling that is present on the toe boxes, tongues and collars as well as olive notes which are applied to the oversized N logos. The laces and the chunky sole units match in aesthetic here as both come designed with a creamy coating.
