On Monday, February 14, Instagram announced that it will be introducing private story likes.

The new feature expands the social media application’s tools of interaction between friends, family and others. Private story likes enable users with the option to providing simple heart interactions without the need for sending direct messages. Additionally, the feature does not contain a count and the recipient is available to view likes through their Instagram Stories view sheet. Instagram created the new tool as a way of decluttering social responses for more succinct and organized interactions.
