Balenciaga's Insane SS22 HardCrocs™ Have Dropped

Balenciaga‘s Spring/Summer 2022 red carpet runway show was undoubtedly one of Demna‘s biggest achievements at the luxury fashion house, and the looks on offer were equally impressive. Now, the hotly-anticipated collaboration between Balenciaga and Crocs has arrived and is available for pre-order.

As seen on the feet of Elliot Page, the pair takes Crocs’ HardCrocs™ silhouette and applies a grungey, elevated aesthetic designed by Demna. The result is frankly unlike anything Crocs has ever pulled off by itself or in collaborations before — a 110mm platform is complemented by the 10mm arch, creating a leaning tower of Crocs vibe, while studs (some of which are Balenciaga-branded) adorn the sole unit.

Continuing the avant-garde design are the silver metal piece effect nameplates on the toe cap and heel that wear Balenciaga’s moniker, while more branding decorates the strap and the studs that hold this piece in place. A heavy-duty metal-effect piece works the chunky outsole, once again adorned with more branding, but it also reads “Designed in collaboration with Crocs” as an ode to where it all started.

Altogether, Balenciaga’s HardCrocs™ Sandal might be one of the most outrageous pairs of shoes it has ever made — and that comes after teasers of the medieval derbies, car tire-esque Defender sneaker, Space Shoe, and of course the brand’s first platform Crocs from 2018.
