Balenciaga SS22 Reinterprets the Classic Hollywood Red Carpet
Featuring a cast of Balenciaga’s closest friends, models and team members.
For the Spring/Summer 2022 season, Balenciaga is reinterpreting the ever-classic photocall opportunity at Hollywood’s red carpet. The lookbook emulates the typical scenario, this time with guests all wearing Balenciaga’s latest collection on the walkway.
The collection is worn by friends, models and team members of the house as a part of an automatic performance where the premiere event becomes the show in itself. This season, Balenciaga shows off a wide range of apparel including a wardrobe of streetwear-inspired fits for the day and elegant tailoring and eveningwear. On top of avant garde gowns for couture nights out, this season sees an eclectic mix of tuxedo wear blended with streetwear. Through Balenciaga’s SS22 collection, it is evident that the lines of fashion are blurring when it comes to formal and casual wear. Silhouettes vary from the ultra-slim look to the comfort-focused oversized aesthetic.
This season sees an update of apparel and accessories including the Space Shoe, constructed out of the highly innovative single mold alternative to the classic derby and slipper-like loafers that give a nod to the classic men’s shoe. Balenciaga debuts The Defender, a new super-chunky sneaker that features extreme tire tread, while also leaning into their ongoing collaboration with Crocs to provide additional renditions of the cybergoth aesthetic.
