Acne Studios Drops Six New Versions of the 08 STHLM
A luxury take on an awfully familiar style.
There’s been a resurgence in low-top basketball sneakers as of late: the Nike Dunk comes to mind, as does New Balance’s 550 that was reborn by Aimé Leon Dore back in 2020. And now, Acne Studios wants a slice of the action, introducing its familiar-looking 08 STHLM that follows on from last year’s glitter iteration.
The 08 STHLM comes in two takes split between low and high-top forms, both of which appear in a myriad of traditional colorways. For the low-top, we’ve got all black, white with metallic green foil, and white with gray nubuck and suede panels. The high comes in the same two block colors, as well as white with purple foil touches, and these iterations are the clear standouts from the pack.
Self-described as “basketball-inspired,” the sneakers feature a retro ’90s silhouette tinged with Acne Studios’ clean and simple aesthetic. For example, cursive branding (like a signature that you might find on a basketball jersey) appears on the lateral mid-panel and is embossed into the midsole, and the laces are secured with an Acne Studios face-branded toggle made from clear plastic.
More of the same branding can be found on the outsole, rounding out the pairs. Take a look at the new silhouette from Acne Studios, and buy the sneaker online now. Lows cost $470 USD and the highs come in at $510 USD.
In other news, Gucci has dropped a new running-inspired sneaker.
