Maharishi Integrates Military-Spec Elements Into Its Reebok Classic Leather “Ripstop“ Collab
The London imprint suits up the ’80s runner with a stealthy makeover.
The Reebok team is traveling back across the pond to the U.K. to reunite with Maharishi for a new Classic Leather “Ripstop” collaboration. This offering serves as a follow-up to the duo’s Reebok LT Court Hemp team-up that was revealed in October.
The London-based streetwear label wanted to integrate military-inspired sensibilities into this newest footwear project. Using the Classic Leather as its canvas, Maharishi zeroes in on a stealthy ripstop material to formulate the upper, and this provides wearers with decent protection from wetter weather conditions. Reflective accents are also integrated and the quarter panel windows swap out their usual “Reebok” hits for a “Maharishi” spell-out.
“Throughout the design process we looked at duality, a concept that is deeply embedded in the Maharishi ethos,” said Hardy Blechman, Mararishi’s founder. “Maharishi has always sought to draw out the hidden commonalities of seemingly opposing forces. We’ve translated this idea onto Classic Leather by juxtaposing the matte ripstop with reflective 3M beading around the heel, tongue, and laces.”
Mark your calendars for a December 16 release via Maharishi and December 23 through Reebok and select global retailers. The official MSRP is set at $150 USD a pair.
