maharishi Looks to 2023 With All-New Pre-Spring Collection
Inspired by a journey from Vietnam to the Himalayas.
Hardy Blechman’s maharishi has had a busy 2022. The London-based label has been consistently producing high-quality general releases which combine streetwear with military influences — such as the “Battle Royale” collection. It has also experimented with footwear with Reebok, and even the world of pedal bikes with its recent Dosnoventa collaboration. Now, the imprint is turning its focus to 2023 with its all-new pre-spring collection.
The new drop takes inspiration from a journey from Vietnam to the Himalayas and the Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand that were encountered by the maharishi team along the way. With this being said, the new selection of garments leans into the breathable silhouettes that are synonymous with the area, along with the detailed textiles and artwork styles of golden dragons, tigers, and Thai clouds.
New iterations of core hemp trousers — such as kimonos and the brand’s classic Original Snopants — arrive in colorways of “Rust” and silver, while the brand’s outerwear and organic cotton feature refined pocket arrangements for everyday carry and travel.
Collection highlights come in the form of the DPM: Bonsai Forest prints, with the latter outlining tree designs that grow from the earth and up into the clouds. Water patterns are also used, with the designers applying a series of dots and strokes to surfaces that come together to appear as if they’re miles away.
The artwork is integrated into a selection of technical cloth on shirts and outerwear — such as the waterproof cotton/hemp Ventile jacket and the Codura jacket which is crafted from a nylon cotton blend from Japan.
