New Balance is continuing to thrive in the footwear industry. Excelling at presenting mixed-material offerings, NB tends to merge minimalist designs which lean into overall versatility to be worn with most garment staples in your wardrobe. A key model backing this approach to footwear has been the 2002R silhouette. Now available in a slew of in-house colorways and collaborative projects, including the recent Basement iteration, the 2002R continues to shine.

With this in mind, a new “Wheat” colorway of the shoe has surfaced — and it also comes with a new GORE-TEX construction. Covered in a flurry of earthy tones, a rich brown mesh layer has been used to set a foundation for the light cream forefoot overlays and the 2002R branded heel embellishment. Furthermore, the sneaker also includes a dark sock liner, while its surroundings include hues of dark grey and silver.

The majority of the shoe is reserved for the “Wheat” tone and it is spread across its tongue construction, laces, and mudguard. Rounding off the pair, colors of cream and light brown are used across the perforated heel counter and N-ERGY sole unit underfoot.

You can take a closer look at the new GORE-TEX 2002R “Wheat” above and the sneaker will be available on the official New Balance website and with select retailers in the coming weeks.

In other news, take an on-foot look at the new Nike Dunk Low “Black Canvas.”
