Watch Lizzo Perform "Break Up Twice" and "Someday at Christmas" on 'SNL'
The artist also appeared in the show’s “Please Don’t Destroy” sketch.
Lizzo appeared as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, with a Special track delivery and her own rendition of a Christmas classic.
The chart-topper, who took the place of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, began her performance with “Break Up Twice,” transforming the SNL set into a bedroom before appearing with a full band at the Special track’s peak. Following the initial single’s conclusion, Lizzo got into the holiday spirit with a performance of “Someday at Christmas,” the lead track from Stevie Wonder’s 1967 Christmas album of the same moniker.
“I chose to cover ‘Someday at Christmas’ not just because it’s a classic, but because it’s a reminder to us that almost 60 years later, we are still fighting for peace, compassion and equality,” Lizzo said in a statement. “A friendly reminder to spread love and kindness this holiday season.”
Aside from her performance, Lizzo appeared in the “Please Don’t Destroy” sketch, which took a hilarious approach to “plastic clothing.” Notably, the episode marked Cecily Strong’s final appearance as a cast member, following her 11-season run on the series.
