Ballaholic and ASICS Connect to Present New A Version of the EX-89
A revitalized design based on the original sneaker from 1989.

ASICS is continuing to up its levels. Recently, the footwear giant has released a slew of high-profile collaborations — such as the “Aged Map” GEL-LYTE III with atmos — as well as consistently-dropped general releases that keep fans engaged and excited ahead of what’s to come next. Now, ASICS is presenting its latest footwear installment with a fresh iteration of its EX-89 silhouette in collaboration with Ballaholic.
The EX-89 was first seen in 1988 when Kurt Rambis and Michael Cooper wore the low-top Gel-Extreme shoe on the court when playing for the L.A. Lakers. A year later, ASICS dropped the EX-89 as a high and low-top that took inspiration from the original Gel-Extreme and for the latter, it’s celebrating its comeback this year and has been revitalized in a sleek cream colorway with grey accents.
Ballaholic was originally inspired by street basketball and this new EX-89 is designed to represent the game that is still played by millions across the globe. The shoe is crafted with a leather upper and also features finer black details on the tongue, collar, and sole. Furthermore, the midsole is designed with an aged look.
Rounding off the design, the EX-89 is built with a rubber outsole which is adorned in a grey hue. The bottom of the silhouette is also designed with a springy base, designed to withstand the tough surfaces when running up and down the court at high speeds.
You can take a closer look at the new Ballaholic x ASICS EX-89 above and it will be available on the official ASICS website and with retailers such as Asphaltgold from December 9 for approximately $156 USD.
