The first poster for Ari Aster‘s upcoming film Beau Is Afraid — formerly known as Disappointment Blvd. — has been unveiled.

Set to star Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role, the poster features a child — presumed to be a younger version of the actor —in grey silk pyjamas with his name embroidered on the shirt pocket. Plot details are yet to be revealed, however Aster previously shared that his next film will be a four-hour long “nightmare comedy” and that it will be an “intimate, decades-spanning portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time,” but it was not confirmed if the title he was referring to is Beau Is Afraid. He also clarified that the movie will not be horror, but reassured fans that he will eventually go back to the genre. “It might take me a few movies before I wind back around to horror,” Aster explained. “But I love horror and I’m sure I’ll be back. Head trauma will ALWAYS have a place in my films.”

Joining Phoenix in the cast are Nathan Lane, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan and Parker Posey, with production coming to a close in October 2021. Henderson shared, “Joaquin and Ari were so simpatico, and they worked together for the whole film. I came in pretty close to the end of the shoot and so they had been working a while. And their way of working together was like they were really old friends. They could get upset and make up in the span of seconds, it seemed. But the work was always the better for it.”

Check out the poster below and stay tuned for an official trailer and release date.
