For Todd Snyder’s The Nomad Collection for the Spring/Summer 2023 season, the American designer took a trip around the world. Specifically, Snyder’s latest was inspired by the fusion of dress notes in 1950s Tangiers, Morocco.

Even in its vintage inspiration, the collection still posits both culturally expansive and modern sensibilities. Suiting appears in double-breasted and single-breasted relaxed constructions and is livened by button-down shirts with embroidered detailing. Beyond tailoring, knitwear serves as a collection highlight with a range of cardigans, knit polos and more. Whether it be jackets, tops or pants, the entire collection focuses on volume – harboring a relaxed aesthetic that is just as chic as it is comfortable.

“I was looking at photographs from the 1950s of Tangiers and was inspired by the way the American expats mixed their gentlemen’s clothes with bohemian ones,” said Snyder. “These artists and writers were searchers, nomads belonging ‘no more to one place than the next’ as Paul Bowles wrote in Under The Sheltering Sky.”

Further bringing the collection to life its use of several textures and colors that aptly pay homage to Moroccan culture. Fabrics like linen, cotton and suede dance in shades of ivory, mustard yellow, teak, olive green, powder pink, midnight blue and more. With these, pieces like crochet tunics, Ikat print tops, macrame pieces and a Tuareg rug-inspired shirt jacket are sure to hold one’s gaze.
