Chinese New Year is still a few months away, but we’re already getting a sneak peek at what the brand has up its sleeve for the annual celebration. The first pair to emerge is this Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit” colorway which comes fitted with an assortment of colors and special ornaments.

Materials-wise the celebratory kicks steer away from the traditional smooth leather build and instead get fitted with satin overlays and cracked leather toe boxes and quarter panels. An array of colors such as blue, red, teal and yellow are tossed onto the uppers to dress up the overlays interior liners and branded hits. Chenille fabrics have been added to the Swooshes and tongue banners to stress its rabbit-focused motif — the latter of which features Chinese characters — while gilded bunny silhouettes are situated on the lateral heels. In addition, the insoles have been elevated with red backdrops and golden CNY icons while the lace dubraes spell-out “2023” to honor the new year festivities.

In years past, Nike has pieced together full-fledged collections with multiple footwear offerings and apparel to celebrate Lunar New Year, and we can likely expect to see the same in the coming months.

Elsewhere in footwear, Yoon Ahn provided a closer look at the AMBUSH x Nike Air Force 1 in “Green/Yellow.”
