Michael J. Fox and his Back to the Future co-star Christopher Lloyd had fans tugging at their heartstrings. The pair reunited on stage at New York Comic Con, reflecting on their two decades of friendship and career together.

Fox and Lloyd took a trip down memory lane, recalling the days of filming the iconic Back to the Future. The film was released in 1985 and became an immediate success that has grown into a major franchise. The lasting legacy of the film was perpetuated over 30 years of friendship between the two. Lloyd discussed how he found out Fox replaced Eric Stoltz for the role of Marty McFly, “The announcement — at one o’clock in the morning after we were shooting for six weeks — was that the actor playing Marty would no longer be playing Marty, and that tomorrow, we would start shooting with Michael. I felt that I barely made it through the [first] six weeks and now I was gonna have to do it again?!” He continues to admit that he “didn’t know Michael other than hearing about him.” Lloyd adds that despite not knowing Michael personally at the time, he knew the chemistry was imminent, “I felt that I had barely made it through the six weeks, and now I was going to have to do it again? There was immediate chemistry, as they say.”

Fox also touched on his Parkinson’s disease. The actor was originally diagnosed at the age of 29 in 1991. Since his diagnosis, Fox revealed that Lloyd has been supportive, “Parkinson’s is the gift that keeps on taking — but it’s a gift, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. People like Chris have been there a lot for me, and so many of you have. It’s not about what I have, it’s about what I’ve been given — the voice to get this done, and help people out.”

In other entertainment news, Tom Cruise is set to become the first actor to film a movie in space.
