NYC Workwear Institution Dave's New York Introduces Their Made-in-USA Foundation Pant

Located in Manhattan’s Flatiron district, Dave’s New York is a New York City workwear staple that’s served construction workers, municipal employees, and (more recently) fashion aficionados who crave an authentic workwear look since 1963. Besides their selection of goods from brands like Carhartt, Levi’s, Dickies, Ben Davis and Red Wing, Dave’s produces their own goods — logo-adorned tees, beanies and fleece items that are an in-the-know signifier for New Yorkers, and also a hit with international customers who bring them home as a Big Apple-certified rite of passage. Now, Dave’s is expanding their in-line offerings with their new Foundation Pants, the first pair of pants they’ve ever created.

Quality and authenticity are core values of the business, so it was important that those attributes were conveyed on the pants. “Our goal was simple: build a utility pant that is durable, fits well and has useful features — and one whose value can be felt right away,” says owner Adam Levy. The Foundation pants were produced in both single and double-front iterations, both of which were made from a 12-ounce American-made duck canvas that was cut in New York and sewn in New Jersey. Each pair boasts both triple-stitched seams and bar tacks for reinforcement. Utility pockets provide enhanced functionality, and the back pockets are both lined to extend their lifespan and angled for more ergonomic use.

“The name ‘Foundation Pant’ was actually thought of before we even came up with the product because of what it signifies,” says Levy. “In the construction world, the foundation of a great building is laid before anything else can be built. A foundation is also an underlying principle, something you truly believe in and stand behind. That is how we feel about these pants.”

Dave’s New York will release the Foundation Pant online and in-store on October 10. Single-front pairs are priced at $109 USD, and double-front pairs retail for $119 USD. The pants are debuting in navy, but more colors will be made available in the coming months.
