clothsurgeon and Coca-Cola Want You to Take a Trip Down Memory Lane
clothsurgeon’s upcycled garments draw inspiration Coca-Cola’s graphic and photography archive.
clothsurheon, aka Rav Matharu, is known for his reworked and upcycled garment production. The Leeds-born designer has been kept busy as of late with the opening of his new flagship store on Savile Row — which Hypebeast recently looked inside — and now clothsurgeon is building on its current momentum with its second limited-edition collaboration with Coca-Cola. The first capsule between the pair explored paisley print patchwork designs, however, this new release sees Matharu draw inspiration from Coca-Cola’s graphic and photography archive.
The photography that has been referred to heads back to 1954 when Coca-Cola laid its first foundations in London with a sign that was to become the first backdrop of Piccadilly Circus over the last 65 years. Collection highlights include a shirt-trouser co-ord set that features the classic Coca-Cola sign on the shirt’s back. The collection also explores denim with a relaxed-fit pair of jeans that feature blue paneling details and cropped ankles. Rounding off the collection, a selection of jackets with sharp collars are included, along with a melange of silk shirts, hoodies, and matching shorts.
