atmos and New Balance Keep it Cool For 2002R "Oasis" Collab
A sandy-toned sneaker that’s accented by refreshing blue hits, the “Oasis” certainly earns its nickname.
atmos and New Balance go way back — all the way back to the aughts, in fact, where they produced wildly-colored takes on silhouettes like the 576 and 996. In recent years, their partnership has been focused on more “modern” silhouettes like the 2002R and the 1906R — as well as dalliances with the 327 and X-Racer, among others — and the latest effort between the Japanese sneaker retailer and American footwear manufacturer is the 2002R “Oasis.”
Despite the name, Liam Gallagher had nothing to do with the “Oasis” (he’s an adidas man, after all). The “Oasis” draws its name from the refreshing reservoirs found in the desert and communicates that inspiration by surrounding its bright teal midfoot logo and heel N-ERGY gel with various grey, brown and tan shades, representing the desert’s muted tones. There’s a medley of materials to be seen as well, ranging from sporty mesh to supple leather and suedes both smooth and shaggy. Hits of hi-vis reflective material and classic dark gum outsoles finalize the look. The accompanying lookbook shows the “Oasis” in its natural habitat, complete with a model who’s dressed like a Jedi Knight on Tatooine.
While it’s unclear if Obi-Wan Kenobi would rock the “Oasis,” what is certain is its release date. You can expect the atmos x New Balance 2002R “Oasis” to touch down at atmos’ network of retail stores as well as their online store on October 28, with a price of ¥19,800 (roughly $133 USD).
