UNDERCOVER FW22 Elevates Everyday Clothing
Featuring a first look at its new Nike collaboration.
Known for its punk-infused streetwear aesthetic, Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2022 collection. Titled “Psychophilia,” the acclaimed Japanese designer looked to British-American filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock to develop his new offering.
Takahashi taps into Hitchcock’s psychological thriller and noir film types to elevate everyday garments. Pieces like relaxed suits, jackets, knitwear and more have been fixed with noir graphic details and phrases like “I have a third eye but it is blind.” Cable knit sweaters appear in electric colors like neon green, fuchsia and traffic cone orange, while select outerwear pieces feature mohair plaid prints. Suiting retains traditional silhouettes in staple colors like slate gray, navy and black, but is updated via layering and subtle zipper detailing. A collection highlight is a range of pleated knee skirts in plaid prints and neutral solid colors that elevate toned-down everyday ensembles.
Aside from collection garments, the FW22 offering also unveils the first look at UNDERCOVER’s forthcoming footwear collaboration with Nike. Almost socklike, the laceless silhouette features a cinched upper in printed camel and solid white colorways. Additionally, the shoe includes a drop-in midsole with plastic clips and a light gray outsole. Finishing off the collaborative offering is “CHAOS” and “BALANCE” graphic detailing in red and white.
