For Maison Mihara Yasuhiro‘s Fall/Winter 2022 collection, designer Mihara Yasuhiro chose to reflect upon his memories of Tokyo in the 1990s. “In an era when information has become much easier to obtain globally, I’ve turned to localising myself with my surroundings.” Promoting “SELF CULTURE,” the Japanese designer explored the time when he started his career in fashion, focusing on the Americana and reverence for European fashion trends seen during that time.

Building on its signature deconstruction and reconstruction aesthetic, Maison Mihara Yasuhiro established its “Modified” series. A special range of “new used clothes,” of 25 styles include outerwear, shirts, tops and pants from reinterpretations of second-hand clothing collected by Mihara. Additionally, a new pattern has been introduced with a tucked-in collar. The new form used to create MA-1 bombers, denim jackets, trench coats and vegan leather jackets develops oversized silhouettes with tucked-in collars. Paired with the asymmetric misaligned designs are distressed layered sweatshirts that continue the vintage element.

Rounding up the collection is an updated take on the HARBIE, an original sole sneaker originally used for bowling in the 1980s. Paired with vintage-treated soles and offered in a variety of colorways, familiar models are paired with new styles for the season.
