Return to the darkest timeline.

Standing as a fan favorite, DC Comics’ Flashpoint series is now set to return with a sequel.

The darkest timeline was originally introduced when the Flash went to the past to save his mother from being killed. Messing with the universe, the “Scarlet Speedster” created a parallel world where Wonder Woman and Aquaman led a war between Amazonia and Atlantis that devastated the planet, Superman has been imprisoned by the government since his landing and Thomas Wayne became Batman after Bruce was shot and killed. The Flashpoint ultimately was wiped with DC’s introduction of the New 52 reboot, but it is now set to return.

Titled Flashpoint Beyond, original Flashpoint writers Geoff Johns, Jeremy Adams and Tim Sheridan and artists Eduardo Risso and Xermanico will be handling the upcoming limited series. Focussing on Thomas Wayne’s Batman character, the doctor turned crime fighter will hunt the Clockwork Killer leading him to a showdown with Aquaman in Europe.

“Everyone working on these books is giving it their all to deliver something that is worth the readers’ time in this competitive landscape of entertainment,” said Geoff Johns. “This is for fans of big DC events and the great history of DC when it comes to comic books. And even though this is an event, it’s focused on character over concept – it’s the story of Thomas Wayne Batman, a Barry Allen that could’ve been, the crimes of Bruce Wayne – it’s a murder mystery, a secret mission, and a look into the past, present, and future of the continuum of DC. And as dark as it can get in this upside-down world of Flashpoint, it’s fun.”

Flashpoint Beyond #0 will be available digitally and in stores April 5 with new issues releasing every two weeks.
