Vans Celebrates DIY Innovation With the Skate Half Cab ’92
Debuting on the Half Cab’s 30th anniversary.

In celebration of the 30-year anniversary of the Half Cab, Vans has unveiled a new take on the classic sneaker.
The Skate Half Cab ’92 maintains elements of the Half Cab’s original silhouette but has been redesigned with skaters in mind. The model takes on the DIY design helmed by skaters themselves in the 90s, when the company noticed that they were cutting down Half Cab high tops to turn them into customized skate shoes.
The sneaker now features molded heel counters and locked-in tongue straps to better hold feet in place while skating. It also has a new rubber compound for increased durability and longevity.
On the side of the shoe are graphic finishes, including Vans’ signature checkerboard flag.
The Skate Half Cab ’92 is available in blue and taupe suede colorways at Vans retail locations and online.
